GUNNER and GAT HENSHAW were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Passing the 800 metre mark Apprentice S Moodley the rider of FRANCESCO felt something amiss with this gelding, and as a result eased his mount out of the race. This resulted in LEGEND being carried outwards and being forced to ease off the heels of FRANCESCO. Thereafter LEGEND was switched in to continue his run. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine FRANCESCO. LEGEND was hanging in, in the straight, shifting inwards brushing GAT HENSHAW passing the 50-metre mark. In view of the performance of GONE BABY GONE the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Vet: GONE BABY GONE - nothing obvious detected. FRANCESCO - broke down left fore. The start of this Race was delayed due to the horses leaving the parade ring late as a result of the horse ambulance having to leave the race track proper.
