ESSENCEOFLIFE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Ramzan the rider of CLASS ACT had a satisfactory qualifying ride. In view of the performances of VIA SACRA and CLASS ACT, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Jockey de Melo the rider of GINGER BISCUIT reported that he felt something amiss with this mare in running. ESSENCEOFLIFE shifted out carrying ACCIDENTAL TOURIST outwards between the 150 and 50 metre marks. Apprentice Sakayi as the rider of ESSENCEOFLIFE, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ACCIDENTAL TOURIST in the closing stages. DOUBLE 'O' EIGHT was hanging in, shifted in slightly, carrying CLASS ACT inwards at approximately the 200 metre mark. DAME COMMANDER returned post race having cast the right fore shoe. Vet: VIA SACRA - not striding out left fore. CLASS ACT and GINGER BISCUIT - nothing obvious detected. The start of this Race was delayed due to the late scratching of the favourite ROYAL KAITRINA who could not be re-saddled at the start and time was taken to allow the betting public to re-structure their bets.
