En route to the start TAKATUL ran into the outside running rail, dislodged Jockey Appie and bolted. As a consequence of this Jockey M van Rensburg was dislodged from WHAT A STORY, which was startled by TAKATUL bolting past it. Jockey Appie was attended to by the Course Paramedics, declared unfit to ride and replaced by Apprentice D DE GOUVEIA. Jockey Van Rensburg was examined by the Course Medical Staff and passed fit to ride. He was reunited with WHAT A STORY and preceded to the start. Both TAKATUL and WHAT A STORY were inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon and declared fit to race. This caused a delay to the start of this race. PELICAN BAY jumped awkwardly. Jockey Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with VARTANIUM in running. PELICAN BAY over-raced in the early and middle stages and thereafter commenced to hang out in the straight. WHAT A STORY was selected for the taking of specimen analysis. DYNAJET shifted out away from the crop from the 150m. DYNAJET was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: VARTANIUM - not striding out left front. Scratched: AWAKENING - pulled muscle. POWERED BY MALHUB - injured left front joint.
