THE STARTER REPORTED A) VICTORIA TOWER and SEATTLE MERMAID were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) At approximately the 800m, VICTORIA TOWER (G Cheyne) was momentarily inconvenienced on the inside of SCOLDING (E Webber) which rolled in. B) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that SEATTLE MERMAID did not stride out freely in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. C) Jockey M V'Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with ANGEL BOUQUET in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. D) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning VALERIANA, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this mare is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. E) Jockey S Naidoo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse VALERIANA more than 12 times in the entire race (thirteen (13) times). A penalty of a R1500 was imposed. F) The winner SUGAR GUM was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) VALERIANA Jockey S Naidoo replaced Apprentice L J Ferraris (08:49 - 16/11/2020). B) VIA SACRA raced equipped with alumites front, unshod behind and a compression mask (08:44 - 16/11/2020). C) VALERIANA raced equipped with a compression mask (11:30 - 11/11/2020). THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) SEATTLE MERMAID speedy cut left hind and not striding out left hind. B) ANGEL BOUQUET not striding out in front. C) VALERIANA bilateral epistaxis, 60 days suspension applies. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS
