The start of this race was delayed due to TARGARYEN QUEEN proving stubborn loading. TARGARYEN QUEEN was stubborn loading. Trainer Sham was advised to re-school this filly prior to its next engagement. GEOCENTRIC, IT TAKES TWO and STAR OF GIBRALTAR were slow away, losing 1 length. In view of the performance from ISOVAR, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer Laird was requested to report back on the condition of ISOVAR on return to the stables. Apprentice Ferraris reported that MERCER GIRL did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. At approximately the 1000m and at the 900m STAR OF GIBRALTAR (*D R Lerena) took an awkward stride. Jockey Brown, the rider PRACTICAL CAT, accidentally dropped his crop at approximately the 50m. PRACTICAL CAT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MERCER GIRL raced in Magenta, Navy Star, Magenta Sleeves and Cap, Navy Star (Messrs Glen Goddard & J J van der Walt & Mesdames J L Paterson & A J Wynne) (sold with engagements). Vet: ISOVAR and MERCER GIRL - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected.
