The bridle on WINTER'S FORGE had to be refitted in the saddling enclosure, resulting in this filly arriving late at the start. This, together with the rescheduling of race 4 and the subsequent 27-minute interval between races 4 and 5, caused a delay to the start of this race. Jockeys Maujean, rider of CLEVER GUY and Yeni, rider of TAR HEEL reported that their respective mounts did not stride out freely in running. Jockey Munger reported that MOUNT KEITH (ZIM) returned sore behind. PRINCE OF KAHAL was hanging in from 300m. PRINCE OF KAHAL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. TAR HEEL raced without a tongue tie. IN CAHOOTS: Apprentice L J Ferraris weighed out at 50.7kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight as declared. Vet: CLEVER GUY - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. TAR HEEL - coughing; not striding out both front. MOUNT KEITH (ZIM) - cut into both hind; not striding out both hind.
