Shortly before the field was loaded there was a lightning strike in the vicinity of Turffontein racecourse. The stipendiary board contacted the start and gave the jockeys the option of returning to the saddling area or racing back. The jockeys elected to race back. ONLY TO WIN was squeezed out shortly after the start. Jockey Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with MY FRIEND LEE in running and did not persevere with his ride from the 150m. Jockey Strydom reported that COMME-CI-COMME-CA took no interest in running. BEING FABULOUS (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: MY FRIEND LEE and COMME-CI-COMME-CA - examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
