SILVER RESERVE and WAHI were nervous in the stalls. KANISHIWA and ITA were slow away and lost 1 length respectively. BUZZARDS BAY fly jumped, was slow away and lost 1 length. HIPPIE TRAIL was nervous in the stalls, reared and lost 2 lengths. NAHOON RIVER was nervous in the stalls, fly jumped and slow into stride. Jockeys Fayd'Herbe, rider of KANISHIWA, Minnie, rider of ITA and Apprentice Mphanya, rider of SAIL INTO SPRING reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely in the running. Passing the 150m CHRISTMAS CRACKER was carried out by LATERAL'S FLASH which shifted out away from the crop. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board regarding this incident. After reviewing the patrol film of the incident the Board felt that the result would not have been affected and thereafter took no further action. Apprentice Hewitson appeared before the Board and was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to make more immediate corrective measures when racing in future. LATERAL'S FLASH and BUZZARD BAY were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: KANISHIWA - not striding out behind, bilateral epistaxis, 60 days suspension. CHRISTMAS CRACKER - coughed post-race. NAY THURA - coughed post-race, not striding out in front. HIPPIE TRAIL - coughed post-race, head injury (stalls). SAIL INTO SPRING and ITA - not striding out in front. Scratched: MY MIRACLE - no suitable jockey.
