THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BAT ORCHID (*J Solomons) refused to jump. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn.
Trainer C Mayhew was advised (PHvdW).
b) LAND OF RUBIES (*S W Njokwe) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
c) STREET FLYER (AUS) (*J R Syster) jumped awkwardly losing two lengths.
d) SUPA MUFTI (*T Gumede) jumped awkwardly losing six lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) A race review was called into the start of this race with regards to BAT ORCHID (*J Solomons), in draw 15, as well as SUPA MUFTI (*T Gumede), in draw 12, where it was established that BAT ORCHID (*J Solomons) had become fractious during the loading process and thereafter had refused to jump. With regard to SUPA MUFTI (*T Gumede), in draw 12, it was established that this gelding was restless, had cast its head into the adjacent stall as the start was effected and as a consequence, had lost ground to the field. The Board was satisfied that both incidents were as a result of horse error and therefore declared both BAT ORCHID (*J Solomons) and SUPA MUFTI (*T Gumede) to be runners.
b) GOLD ROCK (*K Strydom) hung in from the 400m.
c) Apprentice K Matsunyane reported OUT OF THE RAINBOW made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) Apprentice J Gates reported FLY NORTH did not stride out freely and made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
e) STORMY WINTER (*J Jacobs), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen was advised (DR).
f) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BAT ORCHID, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading with a companion. Suspension dates: 20.11.20 to the 26.11.20.
BAT ORCHID may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer C Mayhew was advised.
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) FREE DEAL was ridden by Apprentice X Jacobs who claimed a 4kg allowance (declared 18 November 2020 at 15H59).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) OUT OF THE RAINBOW raced equipped with blinkers (declared 19 November 2020 at 07H46).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) OUT OF THE RAINBOW coughing.
b) FLY NORTH not striding out left front.
c) LAND OF RUBIES abnormal respiratory noise.
d) PASSION PEACH coughing.
