The start of this Race was delayed due to OVATION AWARD having to be re-saddled at the start. Thereafter OVATION AWARD kicked the back gates and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. There was a further delay due to SOVEREIGN SOLDIER proving difficult to load. OVATION AWARD kicked the back gates, was removed from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was withdrawn. SOVEREIGN SOLDIER was stubborn and difficult to load. HADDINGTON and ROY'S ROLL'S ROYCE (AUS) lost one length. SOVEREIGN SOLDIER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. WHITELEAF HILLS raced wide on the latter part of the bend and into the straight. Apprentice Matsunyane the rider of WHITELEAF HILLS accidentally dropped his crop passing the 150 metre mark. POIVRE returned post-race having cast the right fore shoe. WHITELEAF HILLS raced with alumites in front, unshod behind. Scratched: OVATION AWARD - kicked the back gates, abrasions left hind.
