During the loading process Apprentice DE GOUVEIA was dislodged from VARDO, which bolted. VARDO was brought in hand, inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon, reunited with Apprentice DE GOUVEIA, declared fit to race and reloaded. This caused a delay to the start of this race. VARDO was intractable behind the stalls and bolted. The starting stalls certificate for this gelding was withdrawn. GIMME A WAVE was slow into stride. VARDO proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. Trainer C Dawson was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. VARDO took an awkward stride shortly after the start. Jockey Zechner reported that TOPMAST did not stride out freely in running. GIMME A WAVE shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. THREE STARS, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: TOPMAST - coughing; speedy cut left hind. Scratched: DEWALI - abnormal temperature. BIG BLUE MARBLE - injured in transit. OCEAN CITY - Stewards permission.
