THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DELTA QUEEN (K de Melo) threw her head down prior to the start being effected, resulting in Jockey de Melo becoming unbalanced, DELTA QUEEN subsequently lost significant ground and dislodged Jockey De Melo shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was reviewed with regards to DELTA QUEEN (K de Melo), where she threw her head down prior to the start being effected, resulting in Jockey de Melo becoming unbalanced, DELTA QUEEN subsequently lost significant ground and dislodged Jockey De Melo shortly after the start. In view of this, DELTA QUEEN was declared a non-runner in terms of Rule 61.5.10.2. b) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DELTA QUEEN (K de Melo), Trainer DM Kannemeyer will be advised to have this filly re schooled before her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. c) NOOSA PRINCESS (*X Jacobs) was hanging out in the latter stages. d) Jockey G van Niekerk, the rider of SPIRIT FESTIVAL, reported that he felt something amiss with this mare. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey D Ashby, the rider of PIPPIELANGKOUS, reported that he felt something amiss with this mare. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. f) BOOMPS A DAISY (AUS), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
