THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, WINTER BLUES (*K Strydom) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of HOPSKIPANDJUMP (*J Jacobs) which had committed from its draw (4) and raced to the front of the field. b) At the 900m, WINTER BLUES (*K Strydom) had to ease when awkwardly placed between HEY BOY (A Mgudlwa) which rolled in marginally and ZIVA LA WINTER (S Moodley) which drifted out into the first turn. Jockey S Moodley appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised to take all reasonable measures to ensure that he keeps his mounts on the correct running line in particular, when racing in tight quarters. In assessing this incident, the Board took into consideration that there were dual movements with regard to the above incident. Consequently, Jockey S Moodley was given the benefit of this incident being deemed as a racing incident. However, Jockey S Moodley was advised that should a similar incident occur in the near future, a similar benefit may not be afforded. c) HEY BOY (A Mgudlwa) shifted out away from the crop at the 250m. d) Apprentice T Gumede (VALIENTE) dropped his crop at the 200m. e) Shortly before the finish, WE LIGHT THE FIRE (S Veale) which was hanging in, in the concluding stages, had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of WINTER BLUES (*K Strydom). f) PACIFIC WINTER (C Storey) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. g) PRINCEKRESH (L Hewitson) shifted out to continue its run in the concluding stages. h) COLDHARDCASH (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) COLD HARDCASH raced with a cornell collar. b) DI MAZZIO (AUS) raced equipped with blinkers (advised 21.11.20/08h06). c) SO VAR raced with a cornell collar. d) WINTER BLUES Apprentice K Strydom claimed 3.5kg of his 4kg apprentice allowance and weighed out at 53.9kg. e) PACIFIC WINTER Jockey C Storey weighed out at 54.9kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 54kg.
