THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINDGURU (D Schwarz) was stubborn to load. Trainer D Howells was advised to re-school this gelding. b) STAR OVER CAPETOWN (A Mgudlwa) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) CUBANELLE (L Hewitson) over-raced in the early stages. b) At the 1300m, FRILLY SOX (*K Strydom) had to ease when awkwardly placed between JUST PERFECT (T Godden) which over-raced in the early stages and CUBANELLE (L Hewitson) which over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) At the 250m, Jockey L Hewitson's (CUBANELLE) crop became briefly entangled with his reins. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, CUBANELLE (L Hewitson) was brushed in by STAR OVER CAPETOWN (A Mgudlwa) which was hanging in, in the straight, proving difficult to assist. d) In view of the performance of RED HOT NIGHT (W Kennedy) (4.80 lengths, 5/4 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Apprentice J Syster signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse CHAMPINGATTHEBIT more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice J Syster the Board considered the number of times (13) Apprentice J Syster struck the horse CHAMPINGATTHEBIT, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice J Syster used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. f) ROCKET RHUMBA (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D I Campbell advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) RED HOT NIGHT raced equipped with blinkers (advised 22.11.20/20h18). b) JUST PERFECT raced without pacifiers (advised 23.11.20/07h45). c) STAR OVER CAPETOWN raced with cheek pieces (advised 23.11.20/07h13). d) CHAMPINGATTHEBIT raced without blinkers (advised 23.11.20/07h54). e) FRILLY SOX was ridden by Apprentice K Strydom (claiming 4kg). Reserve runner (advised 23.11.20/07h59). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) RED NOT NIGHT : Not striding out right hind. b) THE ICE WAR : Returned post race having cast both front shoes.
