THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) MONTANA SKY (*J Syster) raced wide throughout. b) At the 800m, SACCHARO (M V'Rensburg) had to be encouraged to keep pace with the field. However, from the 600m, this gelding became increasingly detached from the field and was not persevered with thereafter. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Entering the straight, NAVARINO BAY (T Godden) was directed to the outside of the track and thereafter this gelding finished its race off strongly. d) In view of the performance of SIR HENRY HAWKINS (G Wright) (12.50 lengths, 30/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) LIGHTENING SPIRIT (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (DA).
