THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CALL ME TONIGHT (D Dillon) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, REGENT SEVEN (C Storey) and FORT CAROL (M V'Rensburg) came together and brushed on at least 2 occasions. b) BURNT ROCK (A Arries) over-raced in the early stages. c) STRAIGHT UP (T Godden) was hanging in from the 400m. d) Jockey A Arries (BURNT ROCK) dropped his crop at the 300m. Thereafter, this gelding was hanging in, in the concluding stages. e) SENOR DON (D Schwarz) was hanging in from the 200m. f) Apprentice J Jacobs signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse PINA COLADA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice J Jacobs the Board considered the number of times (18) Apprentice J Jacobs struck the horse PINA COLADA, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice J Jacobs used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R2500 was imposed. g) SENOR DON (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
