THE TIN MAN was inspected by the veterinary surgeon, declared fit to race and subsequently the breast plate on this gelding had to be refitted. These incidents caused a delay to the start of this race. COLONEL BOGEY and STREET FLYER (AUS) were slow, losing 1 length. Jockey Danielson reported that DIVINE CONNECTION did not stride freely in running. Trainer Laird was requested to report back on the condition of DIVINE CONNECTION on return to the stables. In view of the performance from VOLCANIC SUNSET, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Apprentice Ferraris reported that GONNAFLY did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. At approximately the 300m DIVINE CONNECTION and DORMAN came together and brushed on two occasions. Jockey Khan, the rider of COLONEL BOGEY, accidentally dropped his crop at the 150m. THE TIN MAN shifted in away from the crop from the 300m. THE TIN MAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: DIVINE CONNECTION and GONNAFLY - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. VOLCANIC SUNSET - not striding out right front. THE TIN MAN - abnormal respiratory noise.
