CANDOLIM reared, broke open the front gate dislodged the rider and bolted, was withdrawn. WINTER ASSEMBLY was fractious in the stall, dropped its head down and got it stuck under the front gate, dislodged the rider, the bridle came off and the colt bolted, and was withdrawn. CAPTAIN CARLOS jumped outwards. HIGH KEY, MARAUDING and SILVER CONCORDE were slow losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. The start of this race was delayed for about ten minutes because WINTER ASSEMBLY had bolted the course passed the chute back to the parade ring with the bridle off its head, and the colt was caught and secured at about the 2000m. In view of the report from the Starter regarding CANDOLIM and WINTER ASSEMBLY, and that these horses were withdrawn for being intractable, Trainers Puller and Marshall were advised that their starting stall certificates were withdrawn. CANDOLIM and SAINT PHILIP raced in Club Colours. In view of the performance from AVALON the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. AVALON and HIGH KEY raced green. FATEFUL raced keenly whist attempting to get cover in the early stages. SPIRIT OF SONG and SPY were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: AVALON - examined post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: CANDOLIM - dislodged jockey, bolted from the start back to parade ring, withdrawn intractable. WINTER ASSEMBLY - fractious in stalls, dislodged the rider, bridle came off, and bolted, was withdrawn intractable.
