The start of this Race was delayed due to the previous Race delays. FIREFOOT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Moodley the rider of CRUISE CRUZ was dislodged due to the left side stirrup leather buckle pin becoming loose and was detached from the saddle shortly after the start. On inspection of the saddle, this was confirmed by the Stipendiary Board. BELFRY stumbled to avoid the dislodged Apprentice Moodley shortly after the start. DANCING MOONLIGHT shifted out off the heels of ORPEN LAD making contact with BELFRY. DANCING MOONLIGHT was hanging in, in the closing stages. There was a loss of television coverage of this Race between the 1600 and 1400 metre marks due to the pedestal in the camera control getting jammed at the 1600 metre mark tower. FIREFOOT returned post-race having cast the left fore shoe. Scratched: THE GREY CRUSADER - upper respiratory tract infection. ALL ABOARD - insufficient recovery time.
