GIRL IN GOLD was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Gates the rider of BRIDAL VEIL reported that his saddle slipped backwards shortly after the start. Near the 1100 metre mark in a tightly bunched field, BRIDAL VEIL shifted in and struck the inside running rail, becoming severely unbalanced and nearly dislodging Apprentice Gates. As a result he lost position and his left foot slipped out of the stirrup iron which resulted in him removing his right foot from the stirrup iron shortly thereafter. Thereafter BRIDAL VEIL could not be assisted. PATH TO GLORY, MITRA MUSIC and LITTLE MISS ME (GB) were switched out as a result of this incident. The Board after reviewing the patrol video was satisfied that no blame for this incident could be apportioned to any other individual horse and rider. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine BRIDAL VEIL. CAREFREE was cramped and steadied approaching the 300 metre mark. LADY ABIGAIL was baulked for a clear run in the closing stages. Jockey Randolph the rider of MITRA MUSIC reported that this filly took no interest in running. In view of the performance of CAREFREE the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Vet: MITRA MUSIC, CAREFREE and BRIDAL VEIL - nothing obvious detected.
