THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE LATE SCRATCHING OF PRINCESS OF FIRE. THE STARTER REPORTED A) PRINCESS OF FIRE was restless in the stalls, struck the front gate and was unloaded. This filly was examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently scratched. B) O SOLE MIO and MAYFERN were slow into stride. C) WYLIE'S FLAME was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) In view of the Starter's report with regard to PRINCESS OF FIRE (L Hewitson), Trainer J V A Strydom will be advised to re-school this filly prior to her next engagement. B) Jockey A Domeyer signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse GREEN DRAGON more than 12 times in the entire race (fourteen (14) times). A penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. Jockey Domeyer was advised that any further contravention of this rule will lead to more severe penalties being imposed. C) The winner O SOLE MIO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer A Mqamelo acting on behalf of Trainer W A Nel advised (LM). THERE WERE NO JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) PRINCESS OF FIRE scratched, head injury in the stalls.
