HADDINGTON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Goosen was questioned with regard to the improved performance of HADDINGTON compared to this gelding's previous performance on the 12 December 2018. He explained that HADDINGTON is unsuited to race with blinkers which made him to race too keenly causing him to compound in the closing stages. He further explained that following heavy rain at Ashburton Training Centre, his training programme for his horses had been interrupted. The Board noted his explanation. Jockey V'Rensburg the rider of SEA SPONGE reported this gelding took no interest in running. Jockey Yeni permitted Mr Curling to act as a Jockey's agent on his behalf when he was not registered to do so. Trainer van Wyk accepted to run SHERMAN in a race when this horse had not been re-certified as tractable. Vet: SEA SPONGE - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: HYAKU - insufficient recovery time. SHERMAN - no valid starting stall certificate.
