The start of this race was delayed due to STARBAR proving difficult to load. STARBAR was stubborn and unruly loading. The starting stalls certificate for this gelding was withdrawn. DRY YOUR EYES was restless in the stalls. PROPOSITION and ELLIPTICAL lost 1 length. MARCHER LORD jumped outwards leaving the stalls. In view of the Starter's report with regard to STARBAR, this gelding was suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 4 January 2019 to 10 January 2019. STARBAR may not be presented for repassing during this period. In view of the performance from BLANCO, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Apprentice Gates reported that THE LITIGATOR took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested this gelding. Jockey Greyling reported that DRY YOUR EYES did not stride out freely in running. At approximately the 1400m PETER'S CASTLE took an awkward stride when proving difficult negotiating the first turn. At approximately the 400m Jockey Thackeray felt something amiss with TI GAR in running and eased this gelding out the race. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine TI GAR. RECONNAISSANCE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. FACT raced equipped with cheek pieces. Vet: TI GAR - broke down right hind. Humanely euthanased. Specimens collected for analysis. BLANCO - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THE LITIGATOR - abnormal respiratory noise. DRY YOUR EYES - not striding out right hind. Scratched: BRAVE DETAIL - gelded 2 January 2019. LUMBER JACKAROO - abnormal temperature.
