THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JAMAICA BAY (*J Gates) jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Apprentices K Strydom (RISE) and J Gates (JAMAICA BAY) were questioned regarding an incident at the 1600m where JAMAICA BAY (*J Gates) had to steady and lost position when awkwardly placed on the heels of RISE (*K Strydom). After the patrol films were reviewed from the various angles and due consideration was given to the evidence that was provided by both riders, the Stewards did not take further action as a contravention of the rules pertaining to interference could not be established to the requisite level to sustain a charge. Nevertheless, Mr Gates was cautioned regarding the quality of his evidence that he provided and Mr K Strydom was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of other runners before covering ground in races. b) STEVIO (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Ferrie acting on behalf of Trainer D R Drier advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) RISE Apprentice K Strydom claimed 3.5kg of his 4kg apprentice allowance and weighed out at 53.6kg. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) No report. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
