SPEED MONITOR was slow into stride. Jockey Thackeray, the rider of SPEED MONITOR, accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. HAPPY PILLS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Prinsloo was questioned regarding the improved performance of HAPPY PILLS. He explained to the Board that this gelding's previous run on 10 December 2018 was its first run after a two-month suspension (suspended for Epistaxis on 1 October 2018) and felt that HAPPY PILLS needed its last start, together with the drop in class and weaker field accounted for the improvement.
