LIFE'S A GAMBLE jumped outwards leaving the stalls. WRITTEN IN STONE was slow into stride. RHYME OR REASON jumped out sharply as the start was affected and thereafter refused to gallop. As race review was called into the start of this race with regard to this mare and it was established that RHYME OR REASON had jumped on terms with the field and therefore declared to be a runner. In view of this report, RHYME OR REASON is suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4 and until recertified tractable in the starting stalls and galloping with a companion on a race day. Jockey Storey reported that he felt something amiss with RHYME OR REASON. Jockey Strydom reported that SUMMER HOUSE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. Jockey Danielson reported that CHAINSAW choked up in running. Apprentice Ferraris reported that J EDGAR did not stride out freely in running. At approximately the 350m CINNABON had to steady off the heels of CHEVRON, which shifted out away from the crop. Jockey Khumalo, rider of CHEVRON appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of race and advised to take more care when shifting ground in races in future. WINTER CRUSADE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SUMMER HOUSE - abnormal respiratory noise. CHAINSAW - blowing; not striding out left front. J EDGAR - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. RHYME OR REASON - fatigued; not striding out left front.
