TOP RANK and CORRIDO were slow, losing 1 length. After the running of this race the judges' provisional result was given through to the Stipendiary Board declaring a dead heat for second place between number 7 (MASTER MAGIC) and number 10 (CORRIDO). A query was raised by the Stipendiary Board and upon receipt of an enlarged hard copy of the photo-finish photograph, the Stipendiary Board requested that the judges review the posted result. After reviewing the enlarged photo-finish photograph, the judges were satisfied that there was a discernible difference evident and identifiable on the enlarged photo-finish photograph and that CORRIDO (number 10) had, in fact, finished ahead of MASTER MAGIC (number 7). In addition, Trainer Nieuwenhuizen and the connections of MASTER MAGIC entered the boardroom and viewed the enlarged hard copy of the photo-finish photograph and were satisfied that the correct result had been posted. In view of the performance from HAKEEM (AUS) and DROP KICK the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Assistant Trainer de Kock was requested to report back on the condition of HAKEEM (AUS) on return to stables. Jockey Lerena reported that TOP RANK made an abnormal respiratory noise and did not stride out freely in running. Jockey Strydom reported that GONE WITH THE WIND made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. SEVENTH OF JUNE (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens. Vet: HAKEEM (AUS) and DROP KICK - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. GONE WITH THE WIND - abnormal respiratory noise.
