THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MIRACLE AND WONDER (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey S Khumalo reported that LADY OF THE FLAME made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) In view of the performance of ROHA (W Kennedy), (distance 9,75 lengths, betting 2/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) MIRACLE AND WONDER (G Lerena) raced green throughout. d) At approximately the 50m, SHELTERING SKY (S Brown) was unbalanced after having its hindquarters bumped inwards by LADY OF THE FLAME (S Khumalo) which shifted in away from the crop. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by him lodging an Objection on behalf of the 3rd placed horse SHELTERING SKY (S Brown) against the 2nd placed horse LADY OF THE FLAME (S Khumalo) on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. The Board after giving regard to the evidence put forward by the various parties, was of the opinion that this incident had affected the result and therefore upheld the objection and amended the result to read as follows; 1st 4 LADY NICA 2nd 3 SHELTERING SKY 3rd 2 LADY OF THE FLAME 4th 9 MIRACLE AND WONDER 5th 7 INDRIYA e) LADY NICA (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
