The start of the 1st Race was delayed as a result of the farrier having to attend to the left front shoe on GREENLIGHT GATSBY at the start. CHARLIE MCCREEVY was restless in the stalls. GOLDEN HALO was restless in the stalls. Lost 1 length. ZARATOS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Shortly after the start ITALIAN WAY shifted inwards which resulted in BLACK SAMURAI and OCEAN HEIGHTS being eased and OCEAN HEIGHTS who was improving on the inside of ITALIAN WAY being switched to the outside to avoid the heels of ITALIAN WAY. Apprentice Arries failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BLACK SAMURAI and OCEAN HEIGHTS shortly after the start. He was suspended for a period of 7 days with effect 31.1.2019to 6.2.12019, both dates inclusive. GALWAY was switched in brushing MIGHTY GEMINI. Thereafter MIGHTY GEMINI shifted in slightly making contact with ITALIAN WAY at approximately the 50-metre mark. In view of the performances of COMBAT CAPTAIN, CHARLIE MCCREEVY and GOLDEN HALO the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. BLACK SAMURAI raced unshod. Vet: COMBAT CAPTAIN and GOLD HALO - nothing obvious detected. CHARLIE MCCREEVY - coughing.
