THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NEVER TO CLEVER (C Murray) reared in the stalls, injuring itself. This colt was subsequently scratched by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. The Starting Stall Certificate for NEVER TO CLEVER has been withdrawn. b) APACHE TRAIL (S Khumalo) was stubborn loading and slow losing one length. c) JUST SMILE (R Fourie) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) During the loading process, NEVER TO CLEVER (C Murray) became restless and reared, resulting in this colt getting its front legs caught in the starting stall gates. NEVER TO CLEVER was extricated from the starting stalls, examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently scratched. POMEGRANATE (C Maujean) which was drawn next to NEVER TO CLEVER was injured during this incident and was also scratched by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to NEVER TO CLEVER, this colt has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 29 November 2020 to 5 December 2020. NEVER TO CLEVER may not be presented for repassing during this period. Trainer E Verdonese advised (LAS). c) At approximately the 300m, MARRAKECH (*P Mxoli) was carried in by BATTLE FORCE (G Lerena) which hung in from the 400m. d) In view of the performance of GODSWOOD (W Kennedy), (distance 10,50 lengths, betting 4/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Trainer P F Matchett was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented the horse BATTLE FORCE to race in blinkers when this equipment was not declared. Trainer Matchett signed an Admission of Guilt and a penalty of a fine of R250 was imposed. f) BARTHOLDI (*L J Ferraris), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G M Alexander advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) GODSWOOD raced equipped with blinkers (declared 28 November 2020 at 05H11). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) GODSWOOD blowing. b) JUST SMILE coughing. SCRATCHED: a) NEVER TO CLEVER injured in stalls (NHA / 12H41) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) POMEGRANATE injured in stalls (NHA / 12H42) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
