CHARLES and GUN HILL were slow. THANKSGIVING, BUNKER HUNT and KNIGHTS TEMPLAR were slow losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. ATYAAB (AUS) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with LLOYD GEORGE and SENATLA which were squeezed out. CHARLES jumped inwards. SECOND REQUEST refused to leave the parade ring and proceed to the start, despite attempts from a lead pony, and was withdrawn for being intractable. Trainer Tarry was advised that this filly was suspended indefinitely until she is presented on a race day to proceed to the start to the satisfaction of a member of the Stipendiary Board. BELGARION raced wide on the bend and Jockey Fayd'Herbe, rider of BELGARION reported that this colt had choked up in running. Jockey Strydom, rider of LLOYD GEORGE reported that he felt something amiss with this colt in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. LINE EDITOR over raced in the early stages. HELEN'S IDEAL was hanging out badly over the final 300m, shifted outwards and carried ATYAAB (AUS) and CHARLES outward in the latter stages. At about the 1600m SANTA CLARA shifted inwards, which resulted in SEATTLE FORCE which was over racing, having to ease and switch outwards. Jockey Domeyer appeared before the Board and was advised to take more care before shifting ground in future. ATYAAB (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. BUNKER HUNT and SENATLA raced fitted with ear muffs. Vet: BELGARION - examined post-race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. LLOYD GEORGE - returned fatigued and coughed. HERODOTUS - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise. BUNKER HUNT - returned fatigued. THANKSGIVING - returned with its testicle tucked up, (in distress). PERPETUAL FLAME - returned cut into on the right hind. Scratched: ROLL OF DRUMS - elevated temperature, suspected virus. SECOND REQUEST - withdrawn, intractable.
