The start of this race was delayed due to the horses leaving the parade ring late as a result of lightning in close proximity to the racecourse. CAUSE AND EFFECT lost one length. SILENT CRUSADE and ESSENCEOFLIFE were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Marcus the rider of CAUSE AND EFFECT accidentally dropped his crop passing the 200-meter mark. Jockey Hewitson the rider of VICTORY TRIP reported that he felt something amiss with this filly and as a result he did not persevere with his ride over the final 300 meters. Vet: VICTORY TRIP - not striding out right hind and coughing.
