Jockey Khumalo appeared before the Board and was spoken to regarding his crop use on VICTOR FORTH en-route to the start. He explained to the Board that this gelding had been stubborn and due to time constraints, he received instruction from the Starter to move onward to the start. He attempted to encourage the horse forward with his hands. When VICTOR FORTH had continued not to respond, he used his crop. Jockey Khumalo was strongly reprimanded regarding the use of his crop in this manner. WARRIOR'S REST was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Scratched: MONOPOLIZE - foot abscess.
