THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ISHNANA (*L Ferraris) and GURU'S PRIDE (W Kennedy) were squeezed out. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1100m, PRICELESS RULER (S Veale) brushed the inside running rail. In view of the performance of PRICELESS RULER (S Veale) (7.45 lengths, 1/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) At the 400m, ISHNANA (*L Ferraris) and MR FITZ (G Wright) were awkwardly placed between WYNKELDER (A Marcus) which shifted out away from the crop and SHARE HOLDER (M Yeni) which rolled in. In assessing this incident, the Board took into consideration that each of these runners were racing in tight quarters and that the movement in question was marginal in nature. Accordingly, the Board deemed this incident to be a racing incident and took no further action. c) SILENT CRUSADE (K de Melo) was hanging out at the 300m. d) INDI ANNA (L Hewitson) shifted out away from the crop at the 200m. e) WAYWOOD (T Godden) was hanging in at the 200m. f) Trainers D Drier (PRICELESS RULER) and M L Roberts (SOLID GOLD) will be advised that their respective runners failed to adequately parade and that should these horses behave similarly in future, they may be suspended. g) Jockey A Marcus signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse WYNKELDER more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Marcus the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey A Marcus struck the horse WYNKELDER, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey A Marcus used his crop and his record (2) relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. h) SOLID GOLD (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) PRICELESS RULER : Speedy cut right fore. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
