PROFOUND stood awkwardly in the stalls. NEVERLETUGO was nervous in the stalls. STORYFIELDS squeezed out shortly after the start. Jockeys Hewitson, rider of SILKEN THREAD and Danielson, rider of NEVERLETUGO reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in the running. When afforded the opportunity to explain the disappointing performance of PROFOUND, Jockey Fayd'Herbe explained to the Board that this was this filly's first race on the poly track and she resented the kickback, he was also of the view that this filly would have been better suited to a mile as the pace of the race, in particular in the early stages, was too fast for this filly. Mr Fayd'Herbe's explanation was noted. In view of the performance of this filly, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. ETERNAL NIGHT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ETERNAL NIGHT raced equipped with ear muffs. Vet: PROFOUND - nothing obvious detected. SILKEN THREAD and PRINCESS ELSA - abnormal respiratory noise. NEVERLETUGO - cut into right hind chestnut. ARCTIC SIREN - coughed post-race. Scratched: KANISHIWA - swollen off fore.
