THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey C Habib's (KICK BUTT) surcingle broke en-route to the start and was replaced at the start. b) At the 250m, ALFONSE BABY (D Schwarz), which was hanging in and shifted in marginally, was steadied off the heels of ACADEMIC GOLD (G Wright) which rolled out. c) Apprentice K Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with CLASS OF EIGHT (17.85 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of KICK BUTT (C Habib) (19.25 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey C Habib (KICK BUTT) returned to scale 1.1kg over the weight at which he was declared out. In assessing this matter, the Board took into account the weight difference between the surcingle with which Jockey C Habib weighed out and the replacement surcingle (0.2kg), and therefore took no further action. Jockey C Habib's broken surcingle was examined by the Board and was found to be in otherwise satisfactory condition. f) MACARA (D Dillon), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) KICK BUTT Jockey C Habib weighed out at 53.9kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 53kg. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) CLASS OF EIGHT : Not striding out right hind and coughed. b) KICK BUTT : Nothing obvious detected. c) ALFONSE BABY : Speedy cut left hind.
