The start of this race was delayed due to a technical problem with the starting stalls. ARANJUEZ was nervous in the stalls. WEMIBONO, CAPTAIN'S VISTA and OMAHA TRIBE were slow into stride. STRONG N' BRAVE was stubborn loading. GOLDEN SHAMROCK over raced in the early and middle stages and compounded in the home straight. In view of the performance of GOLDEN SHAMROCK, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Jockeys Mxothwa, rider of STAR EVOLUTION and Storey, rider of CAPTAIN'S VISTA reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. OKAVANGO DELTA shifted out away from the crop in the closing stages. ARANJUEZ was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee Venter was questioned regarding the improved performance of ARANJUEZ as compared to his run on the 8 February 2019. He explained that in this gelding's previous performance he was well away and had raced to the front in the early stages and as a result had over raced without cover and compounded in the latter stages. Today he had raced with cover and this had better suited his runner. He undertook to race ARANJUEZ in a similar manner in future. This gelding's previous performance was reviewed by the Stipendiary Board and his explanation was noted. Vet: GOLDEN SHAMROCK and STAR EVOLUTION - not striding out right fore. CAPTAIN'S VISTA - nothing obvious detected, examined post race.
