In view of the performance from STREETFIGHTING MAN (AUS), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding on his return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Jockey Orffer, rider of PERFECT SUMMER reported that he felt something amiss with this colt in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. Jockey Andrews, rider of KING OF ACES reported this gelding was not striding out freely in running. ST VLADIMIR shifted out sharply at the 300m and had to be straightened. LINE EDITOR was hanging out in the straight. Apprentice Burke, rider of PARISIAN GOLD appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his riding of PARISIAN GOLD. Apprentice Burke told the Stewards that his instructions had been to ride this gelding from a forward position and if the pace allowed, he should allow PARISIAN GOLD to race to the front. However once PARISIAN GOLD got to the front in the early stages, he refused to settle and Apprentice Burke was unable to restrain the gelding resulting in PARISIAN GOLD racing many lengths clear of the field. Apprentice Burke's explanation was supported by the video evidence. ST VLADIMIR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: STREETFIGHTING MAN (AUS) - returned not striding out on the left hind and coughing. PERFECT SUMMER - returned not striding out. KING OF ACES - returned not striding out both hind. ST VLADIMIR - lost the right front shoe in running.
