The start of this race was delayed due to PINNACLE PEAK and ALL AT ONCE breaking through the front gates and bolting. PINNACLE PEAK and ALL AT ONCE were subsequently scratched by the Veterinary surgeon and this race was rescheduled to 16h46 to allow the betting public to restructure their bets. JIFFY and CAPTAIN COURTEOUS kicked the back gates badly, shaking the stalls, resulting in PINNACLE PEAK, CLEVER GUY and ALL AT ONCE breaking through, PINNACLE PEAK and ALL AT ONCE dislodged their respective riders and bolted. CLEVER GUY was restrained by Jockey Brown, returned to the start, inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon, declared fit to race and reloaded. In view of this report Trainers Verdonese, rider of JIFFY and Botes, rider of CAPTAIN COURTEOUS were advised to re-school their respective horses prior to their next engagement. SOCIAL ORDER, PURE BLONDE and CAPTAIN COURTEOUS lost 1 length. MARDI GRAS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ALL AT ONCE - cut left hind stifle. Scratched: PINNACLE and ALL AT ONCE - bolted (NHA / 16:44) (betting 71/20). Immediate reinstatement.
