After the running of the first race concerns were raised by the riders and subsequently the Course Veterinary Surgeon and the Track Manager regarding wet patches on the track between the 800m and the 400m. Consequently, a panel was duly convened in terms of the Rules of the National Horse racing Authority and after hearing submissions from the Course Veterinary Surgeon, Track Manager, Trainer representatives A C Greeff and G D Smith, Stable Employee G Venter as well as Jockey representatives, L Hewitson, M Byleveld, W Agrella and S Khumalo, it was decided that the best case scenario would be for the race meeting to remain on the Turf track provided that the rails could be reconfigured to neutralize the influence of any wet patches on the track. It was further agreed that should the reconfiguration of the track not be possible; the race meeting should be moved to the Poly Track. The panel after hearing the submissions on the possibility of reconfiguration from the Track Manager, who confirmed that the Track could be reconfigured timeously, the Course Veterinary Surgeon, who agreed that the reconfiguration would be in the best interest of the horses and the race meeting representative, the panel decided to allow the race meeting to continue on the Turf. The starting times for the remaining races were rescheduled. WORLD SQUARED baulked for a clear run between the 200m and the 100m. Jockeys Danielson, rider of ALISA'S PEARL, Munger, rider of SHE'S COOKING and Naidoo, rider of YODALICIOUS reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely in the running.
