The start of this race was delayed due to a technical issue with the starting stalls. SASSY LADY and SEARCHING were slow away and lost 1 length respectively. JOKING DICE was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. ESTEEMAL was stubborn loading. Prior to the scheduled start time of this race, tests were conducted on the starting stalls. During the course of these tests, it was established that stall gates 1 to 3 had a technical issue and were consistently opening slower than the remaining gates. Consequently, a decision was taken to leave gates 1 to 3 empty and allow the field to be loaded and jump from gates 4 to 10. Jockey Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with RED GINGER in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Snaith was requested to report back on the condition of this mare upon return to the stables. SASSY LADY over raced in the early stages and was hanging out from the 300m. In the concluding stages JOKING DICE became awkwardly placed and had to ease when running onto the heels of STUDIO BLUES. As consequence of this, Jockey Penny was unable to assist this filly to the end of the race. ESTEEMAL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. JOKING DICE raced equipped with earmuffs. Vet: RED GINGER nothing obvious detected.
