THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SMUTS (S Khumalo) was difficult to load. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer C Dawson was advised (GT). b) MEGAMALL (B Nyawo) and NAMIB DESERT (G Lerena) were slow losing one length. c) GLOBAL DREAMER (*S W Njokwe) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, VICTOR LAZLO (C Maujean) was unbalanced when bumped out by SPOOKY (R Danielson) who was carried out by ROYAL TIGER (*J Gates) who in turn was carried out by NAMIB DESERT (G Lerena) which jumped outwards sharply. b) VICTOR LAZLO (C Maujean) raced green. c) Jockey B Nyawo reported MEGAMALL took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck NUMBERNINETYNINE more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey C Zackey signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1500-00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14) and the fact that he won the race. e) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck NAMIB DESERT more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey G Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1500-00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (15) and Jockey G Lerena's recent record with regard to this rule. f) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SMUTS, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading with a companion. Suspension dates: 04.12.20 to the 10.12.20. SMUTS may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer C Dawson was advised. g) NUMBERNINETYNINE (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) GREAT ESTEEM was ridden by Apprentice K Matsunyane (declared 3 December 2020 at 10H28). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) NUMBERNINETYNINE new ownership: Corne Spies Racing (Pty) Ltd & Mrs S Viljoen (Kevin Chetty), colours: Scarlet and crimson quartered diagonally, scarlet sleeves and cap (Sold with engagement). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MEGAMALL examined post race, nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
