THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FRESH FROM THE US (*J Gates) was stubborn loading. Trainer S T Pettigrew will be advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). b) BRAVO ONE (R Danielson) was slow losing two lengths. c) MISS KHALIFA (C Zackey) and MELCHIZEDEK (M Yeni) were slow losing three lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) CITY BY THE SEA (W Kennedy) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. Trainer P A Peter was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, he may be suspended (AH). b) During the running of this race it was noted that the inside running rail at the 800m had partially fallen over, this could possibly be attributed to a strong gust of wind shortly before the start of the race. This was immediately reported to the Phumelela Track Management Staff to rectify. c) Leaving the 300m, CITY BY THE SEA (W Kennedy) was carried in marginally by SUN GIANT (*K Matsunyane) which shifted in away from the crop and was straightened. d) INDLAMU (L Hewitson) shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. e) Jockey W Kennedy reported that CITY BY THE SEA did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with MY KINGDOM in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) Jockey C Zackey reported that MISS KHALIFA took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. h) Apprentice S W Njokwe (FREE DEAL) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. i) INDLAMU (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (LN). j) BACK TO BLACK, placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey C Maujean advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BRAVO ONE: Jockey R Danielson weighed out at 56,2kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. b) EASTBROOK: Jockey C Habib weighed out at 53,9kg, 1kg over the carded weight of which 0,5kg was declared.
