THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TOUCH OF FATE (*J Gates) fly jumped leaving the stalls. b) AFRIEL (S Khumalo) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. c) KWITE A TRIP (G Lerena) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. d) BIG CITY GIRL (J Greyling) and WINTERS POWER (M Yeni) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey J Sampson reported that KARIN B did not stride out freely in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 600m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. b) At approximately the 300m, KWITE A TRIP (G Lerena) was steadied in anticipation of the narrowing run between FLORENCE (J R Syster) and ALEX THE GREAT (C Storey) closing and no longer being available. c) GANG LEADER (W Kennedy) hung in from the 200m. d) Apprentice C F Dicken reported that he felt something amiss with DUET in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey G Lerena reported that KWITE A TRIP made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) GANG LEADER (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey W Kennedy advised (DR).
