CIRCLE IN THE SAND and CLARA were slow into stride. CLARA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Rivalland was questioned with regard to the improved performance of CLARA. The only explanation Mr Rivalland could offer was that, in his opinion CLARA is bred for and better suited to the longer distance of today's race. He undertook to race CLARA over similar distances in future. The future performances of this filly will be monitored by the Stipendiary Board. JAMAICA BAY and ORIENT EXPRESS raced wide on the bend. SUN ON SAND was switched out for a clear run approaching the 200-meter mark. CLARA was hanging out over the final 300 meters. Jockey E Ngwane the rider of SASSY QUEEN (11.05 lengths) reported this filly took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. In view of the performance of DISNEY PRINCESS, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. POWER PITCH returned post-race having cast the near hind shoe. CIRCLE IN THE SAND raced with cheek pieces. Vet: SASSY QUEEN - not striding out right fore. DISNEY PRINCESS - not striding out right hind. Scratched: SAUCY BROAD - elevated temperature.
