CHESTNUT LEGACY was nervous in the stalls. EPISODE ONE was slow into stride. GRACI LITEHOUSECAT jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. Jockey Storey reported that he felt something amiss with ARCTIC SIREN in the running. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning ARCTIC SIREN, this filly was suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horse racing Authority. EPISODE ONE over raced in the early stages. RUBIX shifted out away from the crop from the 200m and shifted out sharply before the finish. Jockey Maujean appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his ride of RUBIX. The Board drew Mr Maujean's attention, in particular, to the concluding stages of the race where RUBIX shifted out away from the crop from the 200m and questioned why he had not taken all reasonable measures to keep his mount from shifting ground. Jockey Maujean explained that in his opinion whilst his horse was shifting out away from the crop, it had sufficient momentum to come through and win the race. Consequently, he did not want to change his rhythm on RUBIX by changing his crop or weight and risk the horse losing momentum. He also stated that, shortly before the finish this gelding had ducked out sharply away from the crop, in contrast to its previous gradual movements. The Board noted Jockey Maujean's explanation. However, he was advised to take more care when shifting ground in future. MYSTIC JOURNEY and RUBIX were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, MYSTIC JOURNEY raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: AYITA post-race distress syndrome.
