WORLD MISSION was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. SCRIBO was slow into stride. LARRY JACK was slow away and lost 1 length. Prior to the commencement of the race meeting, Jockey De Gouveia approached the Stipendiary Board requesting permission to not fulfil his engagement in this race. Jockey De Gouveia explained to the Board that the person who had booked his flights had erroneously booked a flight, in his opinion, too close to the running of the last race. Jockey De Gouveia further alleged that, he would have insufficient time to get to the airport after the last race as, he also had luggage to check-in. In this regard, the Board noted that the times of the race meeting had been published for more than a week, the circumstances which led to Jockey De Gouveia's request were not caused due to any circumstances outside his control and that the request was being made on the morning of the race meeting. In light of these factors, the Stipendiary Board was of the view that, exceptional circumstances did not exist in order to justify Jockey De Gouveia's request and therefore it declined the permission as requested. Jockey De Gouveia nevertheless elected to be replaced on his ride in this race. An inquiry will be opened into this incident. WORLD MISSION over raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter this gelding raced to the front at the 700m. In view of the scratching of KIMBERLEY CLUB (AUS) an investigation was opened. SCRIBO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. KIMBERLEY CLUB (AUS) raced equipped with ear muffs. Vet: DYNASTY'S BOY - cast right fore shoe. SHINE LIKE A STAR - not striding out right fore. KIMBERLEY CLUB (AUS) - scratched at the start, mouth injury. Scratched: CAPTAIN PARKER - coughing. KIMBERLEY CLUB (AUS) - injured in mouth.
