As a result of the scratching of SPRING BREEZE at the start, there was a slight delay to allow the betting public time to restructure their bets. CRIMEAN QUEEN was stubborn to load and fly-jumped leaving the stalls. Thereafter lost 1 length. Assistant Trainer Eudey acting on behalf of Trainer Miller advised to re-school this filly (SH). EXTRAVARGANT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. In view of the performances of MARSALA and TORREY PINES the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. GINGER BISCUIT was switched out off the heels of HOME RULER for a clear run making contact with SARABI which resulted in these two horses becoming unbalanced at approximately the 300-meter mark. TORREY PINES was cramped and eased at approximately the 1100 meter mark. Jockey Moodley the rider of CRIMEAN QUEEN reported this filly making an abnormal respiratory noise in running. Jockey Moodley used his crop in an unnecessary manner in the closing stages. Vet: MARSALA - blowing. TORREY PINES - not striding out right hind, speedy cut right hind and coughing. CRIMEAN QUEEN - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: SPRING BREEZE - examined at the start and found to be not striding out right hind.
