Jockey Cheyne appeared before the Board and was afforded the opportunity to explain the poor performance of GREEN LANTERN. In this regard, he explained that in the early part of the race, he was unable to quickly secure a suitable position after jumping from draw 8 as, he was initially trapped three deep and thereafter behind MALINGA which, in his opinion, was not a horse that he wanted to track into the race. He further explained that, the pace of this race was sedate and that this did not suit GREEN LANTERN which, as a consequence thereof and the earlier positioning issues, failed to produce a strong finishing burst and became one paced. The Board noted the explanation of Jockey Cheyne which was corroborated by the patrol film. At the 300m, ARABIAN DYNASTY was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on heels of STORY OF MY LIFE, which rolled out. Thereafter, at the 250m, ARABIAN DYNASTY was awkwardly placed between BOLD VIKING, which shifted in, and STORY OF MY LIFE, which rolled out marginally. BOLD VIKING was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: GREEN LANTERN - nothing obvious detected. SEATTLE FLAME - abnormal respiratory noise.
