In the parade ring, during the canter past for the derby, HAWWAAM reared, fell over, got loose from his groom, bolted and was subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. The start of this Race was rescheduled to allow the betting public to restructure their bets. ATYAAB (AUS), GIFT FOR THE GAP, ARLINGTON'S REVENGE and MASTER MAGIC lost 1 length. Jockey Munger reported that he felt something amiss with MASTER MAGIC in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. OWLINTHETREE took an awkward stride at approximately the 2000m. In the concluding stages MARCHINGONTOGETHER, which was hanging in, had to steady to avoid running onto the heels of SAMURAI WARRIOR, which shifted out away from the crop. A member of the Stipendiary Board called a race review into this incident and, after reviewing the patrol film of the race, decided to take no further action. SAMURAI WARRIOR raced wide and awkwardly round the first turn. SAMURAI WARRIOR, ZILLZAAL and MARCHINGONTOGETHER were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: MASTER MAGIC - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: HAWWAAM - reared and injured itself in the parade ring.
